Our Mission

Study Buddies Connect (SBC) is a free and innovative virtual tutoring service for under-resourced school-age children. Launched and developed by Peggy Schleiff and Gail Geronemus, SBC provides one-on-one academic support for students by pairing them with volunteer tutors who typically meet 30-60 minutes once or twice a week. Together, they work on reading books, working on homework, and, for older student, practicing executive functioning skills.

Our Programs

Individualized Tutoring

“One-on-one tutoring design to help students with their literacy and math skills, as well as provide mentorship. Each buddy pairs meets one or two times a week.”

Math Pods

“A learning group of 3-5 students that will be led by one tutor and will practice fundamentals of mathematics twice a week.”

Phase II

“Our highest achievers now move into a year long Phase II program that will focus on executive functioning skills like time management, effective communication, and self-advocacy. This prepares them for future success in school and life before they graduate from the program at the end of the year.”
